Transmission
The transmission is maintenance-free. Only the Differential Lock In/Out Sleeve Shaft needs additional
periodic lubrication. See the Lubrication section on page 26.
Removing or Changing the Deck
BEFORE PERFORMING ANY MAINTENANCE PROCEDURE, STOP THE ENGINE AND DISCONNECT THE
SPARK PLUG WIRE(S).

1. Remove the black belt guard by unscrewing
the black knob, lifting the cover and pulling
up and back to remove it.
2. Release the belt tension lever (Figure 29).
3. Remove the belt from the pulley (Figure 30).
4. Remove the pin and collar (Figure 31), and
then pull the power unit away from the deck.
