Testing
Before starting up for the first time and whenever the
PSS BG 4 has been serviced.
Testing the PSS BG 4 with Inserted
CO
2
Absorber
During the shelf life of the apparatus (see table “Technical Data”
on page 66, section CO
2
absorber (factory-packed cartridge with
footnotes 4 and 5 and refill cartridge with footnotes 5 and 7)) the
operating test can be run a total of six times, each test lasting no
more than 15 minutes.
A record of each test should be made on the CO
2
absorber
housing, with details of the month and year and the tester’s initials.
Exceptionally, if the breathing circuit is opened for more than
5 minutes, the CO
2
absorber apertures should be sealed with
three PE plugs to prevent escape of gas.
