AsaresultofarecentnotificationfromthemanufacturerofourcurrentlyapprovedUltralifebattery,
statingthatthedesignhasbeenaltered;thisbatterynownolongerconformstothecertification
required.Drägerhaveonenewreplacementbatteryapprovedhowever,wearealsointheprocessof
attainingapprovalforanewSentinelIIBG4battery.
Therecentlyapprovedbattery,DuracellUltraPowermustbeusedforallBodyguardIIuni
tsincluding
thoseforBG4,whichwillallowallremainingDrägerstockoftheexisting Ultralifebatterytobe
allocatedonlyforusewithSentinelIIforBG4.TheUltralifebatteryiscurrentlytheonlyDräger
supplied9VbatterywithMSHAapproval.UntiladditionalMSHAapprovaliscomplete,thenew
DuracellUltraPowerbatterycannotbeusedwithSentinelIIBG4.
Timelinesforapprovalofthenewbatteryiscurrentlyanticipatedtobemid2014althoughthe
approvalhousehaveadvisedthisissubjecttochangeduetoworkload,R&Dwillcontinue toliaise
closelywiththeminordertoexpeditethis.
