ADJUSTING THE UPPER BLADE GUIDE ASSEMBLY:
(Fig.23.)
The saw band guides ensure an exact clean cut by
keeping the blade central and firm on the cutting line.
Especially when using narrow blades ensure that the
blade guides positively support the blade from both
sides and the rear.
Set the bearings of the upper blade guide to within
approximately 0.15mm of the blade, and the large
thrust bearing at the back of the blade, just clear of it.
Do not set the bearing too close, as the friction
generates heat, which may have an adverse effect on
the bearings and the saw band as well.
For small adjustment: Loosen bolts ; enabling the
two side guides to be moved closer to the blade [turn
adjusters < which move the bearing eccentrically.
When in position, retighten. Loosen bolts ; and
adjust thumb screw = which moves the guide back
and forth to the blade. This allows you to position it as
far on or off the blade, as required.
For larger adjustment: Loosen grub screw $$
allowing the guide holder assembly to slide backwards
or forwards.
Loosen grub screw $% and turn the adjuster $& to
move the thrust [back] guide closer to or further from
the back of the saw band. Once these adjustments
have been made, the small adjustments should be
carried out.
