SETUP
Choosing the Exhaust Management
Method
There are five options for managing the
exhaust generated during the laser
fabrication process:
A. Onboard Fan
B. External Booster Fan (design flow
rate at least 90 CFM)
C. Light Duty Filtration Unit
D. Heavy Duty Filtration Unit
E. Commercial/Industrial Mechanical
Exhaust System (design flow rate at
least 90 CFM)
When selecting an appropriate exhaust
management method, multiple factors
must be considered, such as the intended
operating location of the Dremel LC40
Laser Cutter, the size of room where it will
be operated, and the frequency and
duration of laser fabrication. Consult Table
3 below to determine an appropriate
exhaust management method.
Room size in Table 3 is based on ceiling
height of 8.5 feet. Adjust room size for
actual ceiling height. If room size or laser
fabrication time is not known, err on the
side of caution and select the higher
fabrication time and/or smaller room size.
Home, office, and classroom scenarios in
Table 3 are based on standard models
from the EPA, ASHRAE, and CDPH, results
may vary based on your use location and
operating parameters. Always operate the
Dremel LC40 Laser Cutter in a well-
ventilated area. Installer of Dremel LC40
exhaust management system is
responsible for complying with applicable
codes and regulations including those for
hazardous or noxious exhaust ventilation
systems.
