7. Fault nding
A list of fault condions and their possible causes is provided here to assist in basic
faultnding. If unable to recfy a fault when using this guide, call your supplier or our
nearest service centre for advice.
7.1 The pump has failed to start
The electrical supply fuse has failed.
The motor is incorrectly wired.
The operang voltage does not match that of the motor.
The exhaust lter or exhaust line is blocked.
The oil temperature is below 12 °C.
The oil is too viscous.
The oil is contaminated.
The pump is seized aer long storage or has been le to stand aer pumping
contaminants.
The motor is faulty.
7.2 The pump fails to achieve specied performance (failure to reach
ulmate vacuum)
The measuring technique or gauge is unsuitable.
There is a leak in the external vacuum system.
The gas-ballast control is open.
The oil level is too low.
The pump has been lled with the wrong type of oil.
The oil is contaminated.
The pump has not primed.
The vacuum ngs are dirty.
The inlet-lter is blocked.
The pump has not warmed up.
7.3 The pump is noisy
The motor fan-cover is damaged.
The motor bearings are worn.
The oil is contaminated with solid parcles.
One of the pump blades is scking.
7.4 The pump surface temperature is above 100 °C
The ambient temperature is too high.
The cooling-air supply is insucient or is too hot.
The cooling-air supply is blocked.
