USING A MASK WHILE IN LAB MODE
When using a mask in Lab Mode (5 PSI low flow) do not use the Mask Adapter.
Instead, connect the mask directly to the breathing circuit. The blue scavenger tube
should be connected to the scavenger port at the back of the unit.
NOTE: An adequate MASK flow is calculated as in the formula below:
F
MASK = 3 x M
v
Where:
F
MASK = Mask Flow Rate
M
v
= Minute Volume per Kilogram
The ADS 2000 automatically selects a Mask FLOW RATE of at least 3 times Minute
Volume based on the patients’ weight entered.
NOTE: The scavenger system must be able to hold at least one Tidal Volume for the
MASK function to work properly.
NOTE: In the MASK Mode there is a built in pressure safety feature that stops the flow
to the patient and causes an audible alarm if the pressure exceeds 35 cm. of H
2
O. This
pressure can build up if the MASK ADAPTER is not used, i.e. the mask is connected
directly to the Breathing Circuit.
8. To end a MASK procedure, simply place the “MASK” switch in the OFF or “O” and
put the 5 / 50 PSI Switch (on the back of the unit) back to 50 PSI. The ADS 2000 then
reverts back to normal operation.
