Usage Features:
- Multiple Stages of Protection: Each pair of channels (or Zone) is individually protected with bi-color LEDs on the front panel, indicating operational status and simplifying troubleshooting. If a short is detected, only the affected channels shut down, allowing other zones to continue playing.
- Global (A & B) and Direct Inputs: The amplifier features dedicated Line In connections for each channel pair, allowing assignment of a specific input to a zone. Additionally, a 3-position switch for each channel pair enables selection between the local Line-In and two Global Inputs (A and B), providing flexibility for multi-source audio distribution.
- Individual Channel and Gain Adjustments: Each pair of channels has its own level adjustment knob, allowing for precise control of maximum output. This enables matching output to specific areas or setting volume limits for speakers.
- Bridging Capability: Adjacent channels can be bridged to combine power output, delivering extra power for specific areas. This is achieved by flipping a single switch, converting two stereo channels into one mono channel with double the power (90W at 8 ohms). A minimum 8 ohm load is required when using bridge mode.
- Power Mode Selection: The amplifier's power state can be controlled via the front Power Button, a 12V trigger input, or Audio Sensing.
- Power ON Mode: Allows manual control using the front panel power button.
- 12 Volt Trigger: The amplifier can be turned on/off by a 4.5-15V DC trigger signal, enabling integration with custom remote control systems and daisy-chaining with other amplifiers.
- AUTO (Audio Sense): The amplifier monitors incoming audio signals and powers on automatically when a sufficient signal is detected. It will power down after 20 minutes of inactivity on all inputs.
- Zone Volume Calibration: Detailed instructions are provided for calibrating the LEVEL settings in relation to source input volume and inline volume control levels to achieve optimal sound quality and reliability. This includes tips for addressing distorted audio and "thumping" from inline volume controls.
- Speaker Connections: Features removable 4-pole set screw type connectors for speaker wire, accommodating 14-18 gauge stranded wire. Diagrams illustrate proper wiring for both normal (stereo) and bridged (mono) output configurations.
- Input Selector Switch: Each output zone has a switch to select between GLOBAL A, GLOBAL B, or LINE IN inputs, depending on the desired source for that zone.
- Voltage Selection: A switch on the bottom panel allows selection between 115V or 230V AC operation, requiring a fuse change for 230V AC.
Maintenance Features:
- Troubleshooting Guide: The manual includes a comprehensive troubleshooting section to address common issues such as no audio, hum or buzzing sounds, and power-on problems, with simple fixes and guidance on when to contact technical support.
- User-Serviceable Fuse: The amplifier includes a user-serviceable fuse holder with a spare fuse inside, making fuse replacement straightforward.
- Removable Power Cord: The detachable IEC power cord facilitates easy installation and replacement.
- Ventilation Guidelines: Emphasizes the importance of proper ventilation and provides minimum clearance requirements (5" above, 3" on each side) to ensure adequate cooling and prolong the unit's life.
- 2-Year Limited Warranty: Episode Amplifier products come with a 2-year limited warranty covering parts and labor for defects in material or workmanship under normal use conditions.
