Do you have a question about the Epson ELPMB47 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The ELPMB47 is a ceiling mount designed for Epson projectors, facilitating secure and adjustable installation. It comprises a ceiling plate and a projector plate, which are preassembled at the factory and need to be separated before installation. The mount is designed to support projectors weighing approximately 11 kg, with a maximum load capacity of 75 kg, ensuring compatibility with a range of Epson models.

Function Description:

The primary function of the ELPMB47 is to securely mount a projector to a ceiling, allowing for precise adjustments to the projected image's position and orientation. It enables vertical tilt, horizontal roll, horizontal rotation, and front/rear slide adjustments, providing flexibility in aligning the image with the screen. The mount is particularly useful in environments where permanent and stable projector placement is required, such as classrooms, conference rooms, or home theaters.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Dimensions: 400 (W) x 124 (H) x 330 (D) mm
  • Weight: Approx. 11 kg
  • Maximum Load Capacity: Approx. 75 kg
  • Adjustable Range:
    • Vertical Tilt Adjustment: 0 to ±5°
    • Horizontal Roll Adjustment: 0 to ±5°
    • Horizontal Rotation Adjustment: 0 to ±5°
    • Front/Rear Slide: ±30 mm
  • Mounting Hardware: Includes M6 and M8 hexagon wrenches, M6 x 16 projector mounting screws (4 pcs), safety wires (2 pcs, 1.5 m, φ 1.5 mm), and wire clips (2 pcs). For concrete ceilings, 4 commercially available M12 anchor bolts are required (not supplied).

Usage Features:

  • Installation Flexibility: The mount allows for installation on various ceiling types, including concrete, with specific instructions provided for each. The ceiling template (units: mm) guides the cutting of bolt-mounting holes, ensuring accurate placement.
  • Adjustable Positioning:
    • Vertical Tilt: The projector can be tilted vertically by up to ±5° to adjust the projected image's height. This is achieved by loosening and tightening two screws on the vertical angle adjustment points using the supplied M8 hexagon wrench.
    • Horizontal Roll: The projector can be tilted horizontally (rolled) by up to ±5° to correct for images that are tilted to the right or left. This involves loosening and tightening four screws on the horizontal roll adjustment points with the M8 hexagon wrench.
    • Horizontal Rotation: The ceiling plate itself can be horizontally rotated at ±5° to adjust the projector's direction. This is done by loosening four bolts, adjusting the direction, and then securely tightening the hexagon nuts.
    • Front/Rear Slide: The projector can be slid forward or backward by up to ±30 mm to adjust the size of the projected image. This adjustment is made by loosening and tightening four screws for the front/rear slide adjustment points using the M8 hexagon wrench.
  • Compatibility: The mount is designed to be compatible with specific Epson projectors, and users are advised to consult the projector's "User's Guide" for details on lens shift, keystone adjustment, and ceiling mount fixing points. It also notes that existing mounting holes from an ELPMB22 can be reused.
  • Safety Wires: The ELPMB47 includes safety wires to prevent the projector from falling or swaying due to earthquakes or vibrations. These wires are passed diagonally through the projector plate using wire clips and secured to two commercially available M12 anchor bolts on the ceiling, located within 1 meter from the projector's center.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Checks: Users are advised to periodically check that all bolts, screws, and nuts remain tight after installation and adjustment. Any loose screws should be tightened firmly.
  • Cleaning Precautions: When cleaning the projector or mount, it is crucial not to use wet cloths, alcohol, benzine, thinner, or similar substances, as water ingress can degrade the casing and potentially cause electric shock.
  • Power Cord Handling: Care must be taken not to strongly pull or pinch the projector's power cord during installation, especially when routing it through a pole. Damaged power cords can lead to fire or electric shock. If the power cord's wires are exposed or broken, the dealer should be contacted.
  • Professional Installation: The installation work, particularly for the ceiling mount, should only be performed by specialists with the required technical know-how and ability to ensure safety and correct assembly.
  • Avoid Adhesives/Lubricants: It is explicitly warned against applying screw-locking adhesives, lubricants, oil, or other substances to the projector's fixing points on the ceiling mount, as this can cause the case to crack and the projector to fall.
  • Safety Wire Inspection: After installing the safety wires, users should check that the wire is not frayed, unraveling, or bent at an acute angle. If the supplied wires are too short or damaged, commercially available wire ropes of 1.5 mm or more in diameter should be used as replacements. Any extra wire rope should be cut off after installation.
  • Environmental Considerations: The projector should be installed in a location free from direct sunlight, strong fluorescent light, air conditioner outlets, excessive dust, moisture, and vibration to ensure optimal performance and longevity. It should also be within its operating temperature range.
