❏ When media is attached to the auto take-up reel
unit, cut the media before replacing the ink supply
unit.

❏ You may not be able to use the built-in cutter if
you replace the ink supply unit while the printer is
being turned on. Cut the media with
commercially available scissors.
Note:
Ink supply units contain components to help maintain
print quality. These components are not foreign bodies.
Replacement Procedure
When a message prompting you to replace an ink
supply unit is displayed
Press How To.... You can check the procedure on the
control panel while replacing the ink supply unit.
When you need to replace an ink supply unit
because the amount of ink remaining is too low for
the print job

Move the lock switch for the color you want to
replace to unlock it.

Press How To... on the control panel screen to
view the procedure.
Follow the on-screen instructions to perform
the procedure.
Disposing of Waste Ink
Precautions When Replacing
the Waste Ink Bottle
❏ Be sure to confirm that the waste ink tube is
inserted in the mouth of the waste ink bottle.
Check that the stopper is stuck close to the mouth
of the bottle. If there is a gap, waste ink may
splatter and stain the surrounding area.
❏ You will need the lid for the Waste Ink Bottle
when disposing of waste ink. Keep the lid in a safe
place; do not throw it out.
❏ Unless you are prompted to do so by on-screen
instructions, never remove the waste ink bottle
while printing or while performing Head
Cleaning. Waste ink may leak.
