Sensor
The sensor establishes the current UV tolerance and the base tan of human
skin. The sensor measures right down into the lower skin layers, so that not
just the superficial skin colouring is assessed.
Since the face usually receives more exposure to the natural rays of the sun
than other parts of the body, two measurements are carried out before each
tanning session:
y one on the forehead and
y one at the lightest part of the body to be tanned, such as on the inside of
the upper arm.
In automatic mode, the radiation dose is optimised for the tanning type and
the degree to which the skin is already tanned by adjusting the lamp output.
The tanning time is pre-set and is the same for each tanning.
The radiation dose is determined by the tanning time in maximum mode.
