The carrier MUST be locked firmly into the convenience
base. Check by lifting up on the carrier.
NEVER use this child restraint in the forward-facing
position.
DO NOT use this child restraint rear-facing in a vehicle
equipped with lap belts that only lock during a sudden
stop or crash (emergency locking retractor – ELR). You
must use a seating location with a locking seat belt.
Check your vehicle owner’s manual to see if you have
lap belts with ELR’s.
Installing the Convenience Base
with the Vehicle Seat Belt
DO NOT use this child restraint if it moves more than
1 in. (25 mm) forward or side-to-side at the seat belt
path. Serious injury or death may occur. Move the child
restraint to another seating location, or try to tighten
the seat belt again.
Secure the infant restraint
to the base by placing the
front of the seat under the
hook F and snapping
into place.

Pull the shoulder belt C
tightly to remove all slack
from the lap portion of the
seat belt, at the same time
push down on the base A
using your full weight.
Check to be sure the base
is secured in the vehicle
seat.

If you have this type of seat
belt (below) in your vehicle,
you MUST install the carrier
using the locking clip (p. 41).
Lap/shoulder seat belt combination
that has a buckle tongue that slides
freely along the belt without locking
into place and is equipped with an
emergency locking retractor (ELR).
Some ELR vehicle belts can be switched so that they lock
when tightened. Consult your vehicle owner’s manual
before installing the locking clip.

base A to your vehicle
seat by routing the vehicle
seat belt through the
openings B, as shown.
You may also let the vehicle
shoulder belt fall against
the vehicle seat back.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that the vehicle shoulder belt
does not lie inside any portion of the convenience base.

LAP BELT
LAP AND
SHOULDER BELT
In vehicles with a lap and shoulder belt and a free
sliding buckle tongue, you MUST install with the
locking clip, unless your vehicle owner’s manual states
otherwise. Refer to “Using the Locking Clip” on p. 41.
Consult the vehicle owner’s manual to determine
which type of belt retractor is in the vehicle.
