Modbus to BACnet Gateway
The Modbus to BACnet gateway allows BACnet building automation control systems to
communicate with the EVO/ECM-Modbus RTU controllers. It acts as a Modbus master in the
Modbus network and BACnet device in the BACnet network. It connects the EVO/ECM-Modbus
RTU Modbus registers to their associated BACnet objects so that the BACnet automation system
can access the registers by acting on the BACnet objects.
The connection between the registers and the BACnet objects is implemented in mapping files. A
mapping file must first be uploaded to a gateway to provide the information for the connections.
The BACnet building control network can then act upon the registers through the discovered
BACnet objects.
A set of 28 mapping files is provided in the EVO/ECM-BACnet-Modbus library. The library is
designed to be used with the B1-10X Babel Buster SPX gateway available from Control Solutions,
Inc., Minnesota.
Each file in the library contains the mapping information from 1 to 28 EVO/ECM-Modbus RTU
controllers. The file is selected according to the number of connected controllers. Simply by
selecting the file that corresponds to the number of connected EVO/ECM-Modbus RTU controllers
and uploading to the gateway, all Modbus registers are available as their associated objects in the
BACnet network.
The gateway is configured by using the embedded website. The only tool needed for
configuration is a Web browser.
