Overview

This document describes the EXCELL PRECISION CO., LTD. 4th Generation Price Computing Scale, specifically the 20-key Standard Version.

Function Description:

The EXCELL Price Computing Scale is designed for accurate weighing and price calculation of commodities. It features a high-performance A/D converter and linearity calibration function to ensure precision. The scale can display weight, unit price, and total price, and supports accumulation functions for multiple items. It also includes RS232 output for data transmission, making it suitable for integration with other systems. The scale is equipped with a battery for portable use and offers various settings for backlight mode and pricing units.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Models: AM4, AZ4, AZP4, FD4-P, FDP4-P, GE4, GEP4, GR4, GRP4, SA4-P Series (FW. Ver. 01014010). The applicable models list is subject to change without notice.
  • Display: LCD display with LED backlight.
    • Weight Display: 6 digits, capable of displaying negative symbols.
    • Unit Price Display: 6 digits, decimal point floats two digits.
    • Total Price Display: 6 digits.
    • Symbols:
      • "Z": Zero indication.
      • "T": Tare indication.
      • "M+": Accumulation indication.
      • Battery symbol: Power indication.
  • 4 bars = 6.2V or greater.
  • 0 bar = 5.6 to 5.7V.
  • 0 bar flashing = low power alarm (needs charging).

  • Altitude Recommendation: Use in an indoor environment with altitude up to 2000m.
  • RS232 Output: One group of RS232 output (optional feature).
    • Baud Rate: 1200, 2400, 4800, 9600 bits/second.
    • Data Bits: 8 bits.
    • Parity Bit: None.
    • Stop Bits: 1 bit.
    • Code: ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange).
    • Transmission Modes (F2 settings):
      • 0: M+ and MC key transmit RS232.
      • 1: Continuous transmission (RS-232 only).
      • 2: Stable transmission (RS-232 only).
      • 3: RS-232 off.
      • 4: Continuous transmission (weight transmission only).
      • 5: Stable transmission (weight transmission only).
      • 6: Continuous transmission (printing format: +001.000).
      • 7: Stable transmission (printing format: +001.000).
      • 8: Command mode (input 'W' in PC, scale replies with weight).

Usage Features:

  • Preparation:
    • Place the scale on a firm, level surface.
    • Adjust leveling feet until the leveling bubble is centered.
    • Ensure stable temperature and airflow, avoiding direct sunlight or ventilating systems.
    • Use an individual socket to avoid electrical interference.
    • Remove any weight from the platter before switching on.
    • Release the protection screw "J" before weighing.
    • Place commodities in the center of the platter, ensuring their dimension does not exceed the platter's.
  • Keyboard Functions (20-key Standard Version):
    • 0-9: Number keys for inputting numbers and setting unit price.
    • CE: Clears old unit price; allows immediate input of new unit price if previous price was entered within 3 seconds.
    • T: Deducts container's weight; "T" symbol appears in Weight display.
    • Z: Returns weight to zero.
    • .: Press once for decimal point; press twice with number key 1, 2, 3, or 4 for Pricing Unit function.
    • 00: Enters "00".
    • Q'TY: For pricing by quantity (e.g., cans). Input unit price, then Q'TY, then number of items (integer up to 999). Total amount displays in TOTAL PRICE. Press "+" to store in accumulation.
    • +: Inputs unit price in UNIT PRICE, then presses "+" to memorize the sum.
    • M+: After TOTAL PRICE is stable, presses M+ to memorize the sum.
    • MR: If accumulation data exists, presses MR continually to display the last 99 data.
    • MC: Clears all accumulation data when "M+" symbol is displayed in TOTAL PRICE.
    • CH: Clears total price in TOTAL PRICE. Input customer payment, and change displays in UNIT PRICE.
  • Internal Value Display Mode: Press Z, then CE immediately. Displays internal value. Press 0 to exit.
  • Backlight Mode Setting (Option):
    • Method 1:
      • Press Z, then 4: "Auto-backlight mode".
      • Press Z, then 5: "Backlight-off mode".
    • Method 2: Press 0 for 2 seconds (beeps three times) to toggle between "Auto-backlight mode" and "Backlight-off mode".
    • Auto-backlight mode: Backlight on when weight > 10d or any key pressed. Turns off after 10 seconds at zero (weight < 10d). Mode is saved for next bootup.
  • Pricing Unit Settings:
    • Double press "." key to display current pricing unit.
    • Press 1-6 to select pricing units:
      • 1: kg
      • 2: 100g
      • 3: HK catty
      • 4: tl.T
      • 5: lb (displays "lb" symbol)
      • 6: oz (no symbol displayed)
  • External Weight Calibration:
    • Ensure scale is at zero and in "kg" mode.
    • Press and hold MC, then press ".". Display shows "CAL", then "0000kg".
    • Release both keys.
    • Key-in pre-calibration weight (display flashes).
    • Place full weight(s) on the pan.
    • Once stable, remove weight(s). Calibration finished.
  • RS232 Function Setting (Optional):
    • Press and hold MC, then turn power on to enter function setting mode.
    • "F1": RS-232 Baud Rate.
    • "F2": Transmission Mode (RS-232).
    • Press T to circulate selection.
    • F1 (Baud Rate): Use 0, 1, 2, 3 keys to choose (0=9600, 1=4800, 2=2400, 3=1200 bits/second). Press T for next setting. Press M+ to save and return to weighing mode.
    • F2 (Transmission Mode): Use 0-8 keys to choose mode. Press T for next setting. Press M+ to save and return to weighing mode.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Care:
    • Fix dustproof cover with double-sided adhesive.
    • Avoid drenching with rain or water; wipe dry immediately if wet.
    • Store in a cool, dry place, away from high temperatures or dampness.
    • Keep clean and free from insect infestation.
    • Avoid impact; do not exceed maximum capacity.
    • For long-term storage, clean and store in a plastic bag in dry condition (desiccant sachet may be included).
  • Battery Maintenance:
    • The storage battery is free-maintaining.
    • Recharge every 3 months to prevent failure.
    • Charge for 8-10 hours.
    • Battery temperature should be below 45℃.
    • Do not discharge with over-current. Charge after discharging.
    • Remove battery or disconnect cathode if not used for a long time.
    • Do not short battery terminals.
    • Battery replacement by specialized personnel only.
    • Crucially, do not reverse battery connection to avoid product damage.
      • Anode of battery (usually red cable) connects to Anode of product battery.
      • Cathode of battery (usually brown or black cable) connects to Cathode of product battery.
    • Low Power Alarm: When the battery symbol flashes, charging is needed. The indicator will turn off automatically after 5-10 hours (1-2 hours with backlight on) when the low battery warning appears. Fully charge before operating again. Recharge immediately for weight stability.
    • Charging Display: When charging with 100-240V, the charging indicator lights up for 4-6 seconds. Green light indicates nearly full, red light indicates charging.
  • Safety Warnings (Battery):
    • Battery electrolyte is caustic and corrosive.
    • Hydrogen gas is resolved during use/charging, which can cause explosion near fire.
    • Symbols indicate: No burning, Caution Corrosion, Warning explosion, Children faraway.
  • External Weight Factory Default Setting: Hold MC and press CE. Release after buzzer beep sound. The scale will return to factory settings.
