1.Pushthetinegroundengagementleverdownand
forwardtoraisetherearwheelsandengagethe
tines.
2.Adjustthethrottlefortheworkingconditions.
RaisingtheTines
Pulluponthetinegroundengagementlevertolower
thewheelsandraisethetines;signicanteffortmay
berequiredifextraoptionalweightshavebeenadded.
StoppingtheEngine
1.Bringtheunittoafullstop.
2.Placethethrottlemidwaybetweenthe“SLOW”
and“FAST”positions.
3.Raisethetines.
4.Allowtheenginetorunforaminimumof15
seconds,thenmovethethrottletothe(Off)
positiontokilltheengine.
5.Closethefuelshut-offvalvewhenthemachine
willnotbeinuseforafewdays,when
transporting,orwhentheunitisparkedinside
abuilding.
OperatingtheSelf-PropelDrive
Theaeratorisvariablespeed,themoreyousqueeze
thedrivebailagainstthehandlethefasterthemachine
travels.
1.Starttheengine.
2.Movetheself-propeldrivebailfromtheneutral
position.
Tomoveforward,squeezetheself-propel
drivebailagainstthehandle(see
Figure9).

Note:Thegroundspeedcanbevariedby
increasingordecreasingthedistancebetween
theself-propeldrivebailandthehandle.
Lowerthedrivebail,towardstheneutral
position,todecreasethegroundspeedwhen
makingaturnoriftheunitismovingtoo
fast.Ifthedrivebailisreleased,thedrive
bailreturnstoneutralandtheunitstops
self-propelling.Squeezethegroundspeed
controlbailclosertothehandletoincrease
thegroundspeed.Whenthedrivebailisheld
tightagainstthehandle,theunitself-propelsat
themaximumforwardgroundspeed.Release
thedrivebailtostopmovingorwheneveryou
leavetheunit.
Toturnleftorright,decreasethespeed,push
downonthehandles,andturntheunitin
thedesireddirection;thenresumenormal
operation.Thetinescanbeinthedown
positionwhenmakinggradualturns.
Tomoveinreverse,releasethedrivebailand
allowittoreturntoneutral.Pushthedrivebail
downandawayfromthehandle.Theground
