Do you have a question about the Fenix E-SPARK and is the answer not in the manual?
Controls how to turn the flashlight on and off.
How to cycle through different light modes.
How to lock and unlock the flashlight to prevent accidental activation.
The Fenix E-SPARK is a versatile keychain flashlight designed for everyday carry, offering a range of functions beyond basic illumination. It features a compact and durable design, built from A6061-T6 aluminum with a premium HAIII hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish, ensuring longevity and resistance to wear. The flashlight is equipped with four high-quality LEDs, boasting a lifespan of 50,000 hours, though the LEDs themselves are not replaceable, meaning the entire unit should be replaced at the end of its LED life.
One of its primary functions is providing illumination through various output modes: High, Med, Low, Red Light, and Red Flash. Users can easily cycle through these modes with a single click of the side switch once the light is on. The device incorporates an intelligent memory circuit, which recalls the last selected mode when the light is turned on again, enhancing user convenience. For safety and to prevent accidental activation, especially when stored in pockets or backpacks, the Fenix E-SPARK includes a lockout function. When locked and switched off, a double click of the switch within 0.5 seconds will lock the light, indicated by two blinks on Low. To unlock, the same double-click action is performed, and the light will activate on Low. In locked status, any single click or press of the switch will result in two one-second blinks on Low, confirming the locked status without fully activating the light.
Beyond its lighting capabilities, the Fenix E-SPARK distinguishes itself with a built-in 800 mAh large-capacity Li-Polymer battery, which supports a power bank function. This allows the flashlight to charge mobile phones and other digital devices via its USB Type-C port. The device features both a male Type-C port for discharging (power bank function) and a female Type-C port for charging the flashlight itself. To use the power bank function, the light must be switched off, and the tail protection cover removed. After plugging the male Type-C port into the digital device, a single click of the side switch initiates discharging. During this process, an indicator light will remain constantly on, and the flashlight's illumination function will be temporarily unavailable. It's important to note that the male Type-C port is exclusively for discharging, and the female Type-C port is exclusively for charging the light. Both charging and discharging operate at 5V/1A, and an adapter or power bank with 5V/1A or higher power can be used to charge the flashlight.
The Fenix E-SPARK also includes a tail protection cover that doubles as a diffuser tip, which can be fitted onto the light head, potentially altering the beam pattern for different applications.
Maintenance and user-friendly features are integrated into the design. The device provides a battery level indication, accessible with a single click of the side switch when the light is off. This indicator displays the battery status for 3 seconds:
A low-voltage warning system is also in place. When the battery voltage drops below a preset level, the flashlight automatically downshifts to a lower brightness level until it reaches Low output. If the light is already in Low output mode when the voltage is critical, the indicator will blink red, signaling the need for timely recharging.
For charging the flashlight, users need to remove the tail protection cover to access the female Type-C port. The charging cable is then plugged into this port and an electrical outlet. The indicator will show red during charging and turn green when fully charged, with a normal charging time of approximately 2 hours from depletion using a 5V/1A adapter. All illumination modes remain available while charging, though this will prolong the charging time. After charging, it's crucial to replace the tail protection cover to maintain the device's dustproof and waterproof capabilities (IP24 rated).
Regular maintenance is advised to ensure optimal performance and battery life. It is recommended to timely charge the light and recharge a stored light every four months. Disassembling the sealed head is strongly discouraged as it can damage the light and void the warranty. If the light flickers, shines intermittently, or fails to illuminate, common causes include a poor battery level (requiring recharge) or the light being in a locked state (requiring unlocking). If these solutions do not resolve the issue, users are advised to contact an authorized distributor.
Safety is paramount, and the manual provides several warnings. Users are cautioned to keep the light out of reach of children, avoid shining it directly into anyone's eyes, and refrain from shining it at flammable objects at close range to prevent burns or high temperatures. The device can accumulate significant heat during operation, leading to a high temperature on the flashlight shell, so safe handling is emphasized to prevent scalding. The manual also warns against using the light inappropriately, such as biting it, to prevent personal injury. When not in use, especially in closed and flammable environments like pockets or backpacks, it's recommended to turn off and lock the light or remove the battery to prevent accidental activation.
The power bank function has specific safety instructions as well. Users should not put fingers or hands into the product, expose it to rain or snow, or use a power supply or charger not recommended by the manufacturer, as this could lead to fire or injury. Overloading the power bank beyond its output rating (5V/1A) is also prohibited. Damaged or modified power banks should not be used due to unpredictable behavior that could result in fire, explosion, or injury. Disassembly of the power bank is not recommended; any service or repair should be performed by a qualified professional. Exposure to fire or excessive temperatures above 100°C (212°F) can cause an explosion. Servicing should only be performed with identical replacement parts to maintain product safety. Finally, the power bank should be switched off when not in use. It's also noted that the light may not be able to charge some mobile phones that require special charging protocols, such as those from Samsung or Sony.
