4.0 VideoManagementSystem
FVA‐IPcamerasdonothaveanystoragecapacityonboardtocaptureandreplayvideoimagesofalarmconditions.
This must be done throughuse of avideo management system. In addition,the video managementsoftware user
InterfacedoesnotcommunicatedirectlytoFVA‐IPcameras,butratherthroughtheFikeVideoAnalyticssystemvideo
managementequipment,FSM‐IPNVR.
IftheFikeVideoAnalyticssystemwillnotbeusingtheFSM‐IPhardware/softwarepackage,thenanalternativethird‐
partyvideomanagementsystemmustbeused.ASoftwareDevelopmentKit(SDK)isavailablethatallowssuchthird‐
partysystemstousesoftwaremodulestogainaccesstodatafromFikeVideoAnalyticsFVA‐IPnetworkcamerasandto
actasaconduitforcontrolcommandsfromtheFikeVideoAnalyticsvideomanagementsoftwaretothecameras.If
your installation will be using athird‐party video management system, contact FikeVideo AnalyticsCorporation for
furtherinformationontheSDK.
5.0 FikeVideoAnalyticsVideoManagementSoftware
Now that the cameras are installed, and the FSM‐IP video management system has been placed on the local area
network(LAN),thevideomanagementsoftwarecanbeinstalledonanapprovedPCworkstation.TheVMSsoftwareis
usedtocreatetheorganizationstructure,configurethecamerasettingsandmonitorthecameras.TheVMSsoftware
shouldbeinstalled on atleastonelocal workstation locatedonthesameLANasthecameras.However,additional
copiesoftheVMSsoftwarecanbeinstalledonothercomputersthathavenetworkaccesstothevideomanagement

6.0 Commissioning
Ittakesapproximately30daystoproperlyinstall,commission,andfilloutcommissioningpaperwork.Itisimportantto
contactthelocalAuthorityHavingJurisdiction(AHJ)orthefacilitymanagerinchargeofmonitoringthefireprotection
systempriortoapplicationtoensureallrequiredpaperworkhasbeencompleted.
Ataminimum,commissioningincludes:
Testing and stability period – where the system is subjected to fire and nuisance sources to demonstrate
stabilityandperformance.
Documentation‐ Documentationofthe organizationalstructure,camerasettings,sensitivitysettings,zones,
schedulesandeventsarchive.(seeAppendixD)
Preliminary Maintenance and service check ‐ The system should be checked according to the service and
maintenancerequirementstoestablishthesystemsconditionuponinstallation.
Oncethe system is in place andsettingsadjustedasnecessary to ensure optimum performance,the system can be
handedovertotheenduser(on‐sitesecurityoraremotemonitoringfacility).Thesystemownershouldrecordany
changesuptooneyearaftercommissioningofthesystem.
NOTE:Duringthecommissioningperiodthecachefileandmemorystorageonthevideomanagementsystemshould
beregularlycheckedtoensurethatadequatememoryisavailabletostoreeventsfor30days.
