What to do if my Fisher Spreader does not operate but the indicator light is on?
    • R
      Robert PopeAug 2, 2025
If your Fisher spreader isn't working but the indicator light is on, it could be due to an overloaded condition activating the over-current protection. Try turning the power OFF to reset the cab control. Then, press the START/BLAST switch to resume operation. Another possible cause is damaged wiring or an open circuit between the cab control and spreader. Check the plug connections at both the cab control and spreader. Also, inspect the wire connections at the spreader motor and vehicle battery. Disconnect the motor leads, turn the control on, set the cab control to maximum on variable speed controls, and check for voltage at the motor leads. Repair or replace any damaged wires or connectors, and check the 100 amp in-line fuse, replacing it if necessary.

Why is my Fisher POLY-CASTER 78001 Spreader spinner not turning even though the motor is running?
    • K
      kaitlin39Aug 7, 2025
If the motor of your Fisher Spreader is running but the spinner isn't turning, there might be an obstruction preventing its rotation; clear any obstruction. Alternatively, the drive belt might be loose or damaged; adjust the tension or replace it if necessary. Other potential causes include a motor pulley or spinner pulley not secured to their respective shafts; tighten the pulley set screw or replace the pulley if damaged. Finally, the spinner shaft bearings could be dry or seized; grease or replace the bearings.

How to troubleshoot a Fisher Spreader with no power to the cab control?
    • D
      Donna MorrisAug 12, 2025
If there is no power to the cab control of your Fisher Spreader, and the ignition and control switches are ON but there is no illumination of indicator lights, start by checking the control connector plug at the cab control to ensure it is not loose. Next, check for a low battery or a poor switched accessory connection. Finally, inspect the vehicle control harness for any damage and repair or replace any damaged wires or the entire harness as needed.

Why won't the material flow from my Fisher Spreader's hopper?
    • K
      Kevin RuizAug 22, 2025
If the material in your Fisher Spreader's hopper isn't flowing, even though the conveyor pintle chain and spinner are moving, it might be because the feed gate is closed. Open the feed gate fully and adjust to the desired opening size. Alternatively, there could be an obstruction in the hopper or the material might be bridged. Clear any obstructions or break up the bridge.

How to fix a Fisher Spreader when the speed control dial does not change motor speed?
    • S
      Sarah GarciaAug 27, 2025
If the speed control dial on your Fisher Spreader isn't changing the motor speed, the cab control might be malfunctioning, and you should replace it. Another possibility is a malfunctioning spreader module, which would also require replacement.

What to do if the conveyor chain on my Fisher POLY-CASTER 78001 is not moving?
    • D
      Darrell HarrisNov 16, 2025
If the conveyor chain on your Fisher Spreader isn't moving but the spinner is turning, first check for any obstructions preventing rotation and clear them. Next, inspect the sprocket on the motor shaft and gearbox shaft, replacing the set screw (if missing or damaged) or the entire sprocket if damaged. If the output shaft doesn't turn when the input shaft turns, the gearbox may be damaged and require replacement. Also, check if conveyor sprockets are secured to shafts; replace any missing cap screws and nuts, and replace any damaged shafts or sprockets. Finally, inspect the conveyor pintle chain for looseness, damage, or misalignment; adjust the tension, replace the chain if damaged, and align it to ride centered on the rollers. Lastly, grease or replace conveyor pintle chain shaft bearing...
