GNSSReceiverlocationrequirements
Whenplanningtheinstallationlocation,considerthe
following:
•TheGNSSReceiveriswaterproof,andappropriate
forabovedecksmounting.
•Choosealocationthatprovidesthemost
unobstructedviewoftheskyinalldirections:
•TheGNSSReceivermustbemountedonalevel
horizontalsurface.
•DoNOTmounttheGNSSReceiveratthetopof
amast.
•TheGNSSReceivershouldbemountedatleast
1m(3ft)awayfromdevicesthatmaycause
interference,suchasmotors,generators,VHF
radiounitsandothertransmitters/receivers.
•EnsuretheGNSSReceiverisNOTmountedinthe
pathofthebeamemittedfromRadarscanners.
•Safefromphysicaldamageandexcessive
vibration.
•Awayfromanysourceofheat.
•Awayfromanypotentialammablehazard,such
asfuelvapors.
RFinterference
Certainthird-partyexternalelectricalequipmentcan
causeRadioFrequency(RF)interferencewithGPS,
AISorVHFdevicesiftheexternalequipmentisnot
adequatelyinsulatedandemitsexcessivelevelsof
electromagneticinterference(EMI).
Somecommonexamplesofsuchexternalequipment
includeLEDspotorstriplights,andterrestrialTV
tuners.
Tominimizeinterferencefromsuchequipment:
•KeepitasfarawayfromGPS,AISorVHFdevices
aspossible.
•Ensurethatanypowercablesforexternal
equipmentarenotentangledwiththepoweror
datacablesforGPS,AISorVHFdevices.
•Considerttingoneormorehighfrequency
suppressionferritestotheEMI-emittingdevice.
