What to do if my Follett Refrigerator does not operate?

  If your Follett Refrigerator isn't running, first ensure the power switch is in the ON position and check all connections. It's possible the refrigerator isn't plugged in, so verify the plug is properly connected. Also, check if there is power to the cord and restore it if necessary. If these steps don't resolve the issue, the temperature controller might not be energizing the components, so check the controller contact terminals for power and replace the controller if needed. Finally, the probe might not be sensing the set point temperature, in which case you should replace the controller and/or probe.

  If your Follett Refrigerator isn't maintaining the correct temperature even when all components are running, start by cleaning the condenser or evaporator coil. A faulty door gasket could also be the culprit, so consider replacing it. Ensure that the ambient temperature isn't excessively high and that there's adequate air clearance; the maximum recommended ambient temperature is 100°F (38°C). Other potential causes include a refrigerant leak (locate and repair it), an incorrect refrigerant charge (recover, evaluate, and weigh in the correct charge), or a plugged capillary tube (replace the capillary tube and filter drier). If none of these steps work, the compressor might be inefficient.

  If your Follett Refrigerator won't shut off, the controller might not be sensing the cut-off temperature, so you may need to replace the controller and/or probe. Alternatively, the controller might be keeping the refrigeration system energized, in which case replacing the controller is recommended. A faulty control relay could also be the cause, requiring replacement of the control relay.

  If the compressor in your Follett Refrigerator isn't running, the thermal overload may be open or defective; allow it to cool or replace it. Another possibility is a defective capacitor and/or relay, which would need to be replaced as required. In some cases, the compressor itself may be defective and require replacement.
