    • K
      Kenneth MaddenNov 18, 2025
There are several reasons why the compressor in your Foster Controller might not start. It could be due to: * No voltage in the socket. Use a voltmeter to check. * Cut electrical conductors or wires. Use an ohmmeter to check for continuity. * A defective electrical component such as the thermostat, relay, or thermal protector. Replace the defective component. * The compressor motor having an open or shorted winding. Measure the ohmic resistance of the main and auxiliary windings using an ohmmeter and compare with correct values. * A stuck compressor. Change the compressor. * Open temperature control contacts. Repair or replace the contacts. * Incorrect wiring. Check the wiring diagram and correct it. * A blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Replace the fuse or reset the ...

What to do if my Foster Controller temperature is not cold enough?
    • D
      donaldwhiteNov 20, 2025
If the temperature in your Foster Controller isn't cold enough, consider these possibilities: * The controller is set at a very warm position. Adjust to a colder setting. * The condenser is dirty. Clean the condenser. * The refrigerator has been placed at an inadequate location. The unit must not be near stoves, walls exposed to the sun, or places lacking sufficient airflow. * The compressor is inefficient or there is high pressure due to air in the system. If there is air, purge and recharge. * The evaporator coil is iced up. Check the temperature control, refrigerant charge, and defrost mechanism. Remove all ice manually and start over. * There is a restriction in the system. Locate the exact point of restriction and correct it. * The refrigerator has been used improperly....
