a) All units have two pressure gauges measuring the thermal uid pressure at the inlet of the
heater and at the outlet of the heater. A third gauge measures the pump suction pressure.
b) The difference between the readings of the two gauges indicates the pressure loss across
the heater. The difference must not fall below the
recommended value. Recommendations are based on heater size and are listed in
the(see )
c) The gauge indicating the pressure of the uid at the inlet is labelled “Inlet“. The “Outlet”
gauge indicates the pressure at the outlet, and in effect indicates the resistance of the
external pipework circuit. The pressure gauge indicating pressure at the inlet of the pump is
labelled “Suction .”

The limit controller is mounted in the panel box door. This limit controller senses temperature in the
outlet manifold. The temperature setpoint in the controller may be adjusted per manufacturer’s
instructions.

Typically one controller is provided to sense the temperature on the heater outlet. This controls the
operation of the heater by switching it on and off.
1. An adjustable two point differential between shut off and start up is built into the controller. This
prevents frequent cycling of the burner. The controller is set to provide the desired outlet uid
temperature. Due to the temperature rise through the unit, this may be considerably higher
than the inlet temperature.
2. If the unit is equipped with an on/off controller, it will be located on the face of the electrical
cabinet. The temperature setpoint in the controller can be adjusted following the manufacturer’s
instructions.

The heater is dependent on proper ow for operation; therefore, up to three pressure switches
and a differential pressure switch are used to sense ow across the heater. Any one of these
switches will shut the unit down in the event of loss of ow.
The Liquid Flow indicator illuminates when there is sufcient ow across the heater.
