Why does my Furuno CH-500 picture contain noise?
    • R
      Rachel SmithAug 2, 2025
If your Furuno Sonar picture contains noise, it might be due to grounding issues. Check the ground (earth) connection of the equipment. Another cause could be the power cable being too close to the signal cable; try relocating either the power or signal cable. Also, if there's debris on the sea surface, activate the [Interference] setting from the [COM1] menu.

Why are the echoes weak on my Furuno Sonar?
    • J
      Jennifer HoweAug 7, 2025
Weak echoes on your Furuno Sonar can be caused by the output power being set to [Low]. Change the output power to [High] from the [COM1] menu. Also, an excessively high TVG setting can cause this; adjust the TVG setting from the appropriate display mode menu. Remember to readjust TVG when you change the gain setting.

If the Furuno Sonar hull unit is off, ensure that power is supplied to the hull unit. Check if the breaker is tripped or the fuse inside the hull unit is blown. If the power is off, turn it on and press the EVENT MARK key. Also, check the power cable connections and fasten or reconnect them if they are loose or disconnected.

Why does the seabed echo become irregular on Furuno Sonar?
    • T
      Tracy SullivanAug 17, 2025
Irregular seabed echoes on your Furuno Sonar can occur due to rough seas, where the distance to the seabed changes dramatically because of pitching and/or rolling. It can also happen if a long range is selected, as the long transmission period causes pitching/rolling to affect echo detection.

Why does the screen color appear strange on my Furuno CH-500 Sonar?
    • R
      Ralph KingAug 22, 2025
