chain tension is achieved.
- Tighten the nut (1Fig. 11) until it locks.
It is imperative to check that the excavating
chain has proper tension, too “tight” and it de-
forms the shaft, too “loose” and it may escape
the guide slot.
- Lubricate tools, housings and moving parts of the
chain with diesel.
5.5.1 REPLACEMENT TOOLS
Regularly check tool wear on the chain. If tools are
too worn or broken, they need to be replaced.
- SLOTTED TOOLS. To replace the slotted tool (1
and 2 Fig 13) the entire tool must be replaced, by
unscrewing the two bolts that secure it (5 Fig. 13).
When reassembling the new tool, use a new bolt
and a new self-locking nut
- SPIKED TOOL. If the bracket is not too worn,
only the spike can be replaced by removing it from
the housing by taking away the snap ring (4 Fig.
13) and replacing it with a new one.
