Undo the 6 cross-slotted screws «A». Remove the cover and take it out from its seat.
Remove the filtering element and wash it with water and neutral soap; then dry it with
a clean rag and short blasts of compressed air. Immerse a sponge in a mixture of 50%
petrol and 50% specified oil. remove it from the solution, compress it with your hands
without wringing out, let it drain and refit.
DRIVING WITH AN AIR FILTER WHICH IS NOT CORRECTLY LUBRICATED WITH
OIL OR INCORRECTLY FITTED, MAY CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO THE EN-
GINE AND THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
AN OIL FILTER WHICH IS TOO DIRTY CAUSES A VARIATION IN THE ENGINE
CARBURETION WITH SUBSEQUENT CHANGES IN THE VEHICLE BEHAVIOUR
(E.G. UNSTABLE MINIMUM) AND POSSIBLE DAMAGE OF THE CATALYTIC
CONVERTER.
CAUTION
IN CASE OF RIDING ON DUSTY ROADS IT IS ADVISABLE TO CLEAN THE AIR
FILTER MORE FREQUENTLY THAN INDICATED IN THE RELEVANT CHAPTER
ON SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE.
