What to do if Graco GX21 Paint Sprayer runs but pump doesn't prime?
    • S
      Stephanie ThompsonAug 18, 2025
If your Graco Paint Sprayer runs but the pump isn't priming or loses prime while in use, first, try pressing the PushPrime button to dislodge the ball, or power flush the sprayer. Ensure the Prime/Spray Valve is in the PRIME position until paint exits the drain tube. If you're using thick fluids, prime the pump with oil or water-based flushing fluid. Check the inlet strainer and make sure the suction tube is immersed in paint. Strain the paint to remove any debris. For thick or sticky paint, try momentarily turning the ON/OFF switch off and on several times. Inspect the suction tube connection for any cracks or vacuum leaks. Clean the outlet valve assembly and check if the inlet valve check ball or seat is dirty.
