Overview

This document is the owner's manual for a Gree dehumidifier, providing essential information for its safe operation, maintenance, and long-term storage. The manual covers models 13-06090, 13-06091, 13-06092, and 13-06093.

Function Description

The Gree dehumidifier is designed to remove excess moisture from the air in indoor residential spaces, helping to prevent moisture damage to books, valuables, and the overall structure of a home, especially in basements. The dehumidifier operates by drawing moist, humid air over a cold, refrigerated dehumidifying coil. As the air passes over the coil, moisture condenses and drains into a collection bucket. Dry, clean air is then heated by the condenser and discharged out the top grille into the room. It is normal for the surrounding air to become slightly warmer during operation.

The unit features an automatic defrost function. When frost builds up on the evaporator coils, the compressor cycles off, and the fan continues to run until the frost disappears. During defrosting mode, the fan motor runs while the compressor stops. The dehumidifier is most effective when operated in an enclosed area with all doors, windows, and other outside openings closed.

Usage Features

To ensure optimal performance and safety, several usage guidelines are provided:

  • Initial Operation: When first used, the dehumidifier should be operated continuously for 24 hours.
  • Power Source: Always operate the product from a power source with the same voltage, frequency, and rating as indicated on the product identification plate.
  • Location:
    • Do not use outdoors.
    • Intended for indoor residential applications only; not for commercial or industrial use.
    • Place on a smooth, level floor strong enough to support the unit with a full bucket of water.
    • Maintain at least 12-18 inches of air space on all sides for good air circulation. If placed near a wall, a distance of 40 inches is recommended.
    • Operate in an area where the temperature will not fall below 5°C (41°F) to prevent frost buildup on coils, which can reduce performance.
    • The dehumidifier is most effective in an enclosed area; close all doors, windows, and other outside openings.
  • Operation:
    • Always use the switch on the control panel to turn the unit on.
    • Never unplug the dehumidifier while it is working, as this could damage electronic circuits.
    • Do not place objects on the product or obstruct inlet/outlet openings.
    • Keep the area around the warm air outlet clean and uncongested.
  • Safety Precautions:
    • Close supervision is necessary when used by or near children or invalids. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
    • Do not operate with a damaged cord or plug, or if the product malfunctions, is dropped, or appears damaged. Return the complete product for inspection/repair.
    • Never connect to a defective socket.
    • DO NOT use an extension cord to avoid tripping the circuit.
    • Ensure correct connection before turning on.
    • Never lay the unit down while working; always keep it in an upright position.
    • Switch off and unplug when not in use or before cleaning.
    • Do not place the power cord under a carpet.
    • Never install in direct sunshine.
    • Prevent children from climbing on the unit.
    • Repairs should only be carried out by a competent service department.
    • The appliance is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the dehumidifier's longevity and efficient operation:

  • Cleaning the Grille and Case:
    • Case: Use water and a mild detergent; avoid bleach or abrasives.
    • Front Grille: Use a vacuum attachment or brush.
  • Cleaning the Water Bucket:
    • Clean every few weeks to prevent mold, mildew, and bacteria growth.
    • Partially fill the bucket with clean water and a little mild detergent, swish it around, then empty and rinse.
    • NOTE: Do not use a dishwasher to clean the water bucket.
    • To remove, pull out the bucket and pour out water.
    • To replace, slide the bucket into the dehumidifier. The bucket must be securely seated for the dehumidifier to operate.
  • Cleaning the Air Filter:
    • The air filter should be checked and cleaned at least every 250 hours of operation, or more often if necessary.
    • After 250 hours, the "Clean the Filter" indicator light will glow (on Control Type1 Models only) to remind you to clean it.
    • To remove the filter, press the two buttons and pull it out.
    • Clean the filter with warm, soapy water, rinse, and let it dry before replacing.
    • To install, put the filter back into the dehumidifier.
    • NOTE: Do not rinse or put the filter in an automatic dishwasher.
    • CAUTION: Do not operate the dehumidifier without a filter, as dirt will gather and affect performance.

Long-Term Storage

When storing the unit for a long period:

  • Ensure no water is left in the water tank and remove the draining hose.
  • Take off the power cord and plug, and wrap them well.
  • Clean the unit and pack it well to protect it from dust.

The dehumidifier comes with a limited warranty:
