Why can I ping GridConnect NET485 but not Telnet to port 9999?
    • B
      Brenda BrownAug 13, 2025
If you can ping the GridConnect Adapter but cannot Telnet to port 9999, it might indicate an IP address conflict on your network. To resolve this, turn off the device server and use the following commands in your computer's DOS prompt: 'ARP -D X.X.X.X' (replace X.X.X.X with the device server's IP address), followed by 'PING X.X.X.X' (again, using the device server's IP address). If you receive a response after the ping, it confirms a duplicate IP address. If there's no response, use the serial port to check if Telnet is disabled.

What to do if GridConnect NET485 is not communicating with the serial device?
    • A
      awolfAug 16, 2025
If the GridConnect Adapter isn't communicating with the serial device, the serial settings might be incorrect. Ensure that the serial settings for both the serial device and the device server match. The default settings for the device server are RS-232, 9600 baud, 8 character bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and no flow control. For NET485, you must change the setting to RS422 or RS485.

How to fix not responding setup mode on GridConnect Adapter?
    • C
      Christopher HamiltonAug 20, 2025
If pressing Enter after the 'Press Enter to go into Setup Mode' message on port 9999 of GridConnect Adapter doesn't work, it's because you must press Enter within 5 seconds of seeing the message. Telnet to port 9999 again and press Enter as soon as you see the message.

What to do if GridConnect NET485 Telnet window does not respond?
    • J
      Joseph TurnerAug 25, 2025
If the Telnet window of GridConnect Adapter does not respond for a long time when assigning an IP address, the device server might not have a network connection. Check if the Link LED is lit. If it is not lit, the device server does not have a network connection.

How to fix cannot ping NET485 DHCP name on GridConnect Adapter?
    • R
      Renee FoxAug 27, 2025
If you cannot ping or connect to the NET485 DHCP name of GridConnect Adapter, the DHCP server might not be automatically setting the DHCP name in DNS on the network. Contact the Network Administrator to manually add the NET485 to DNS.

What to do if ARP method and Telnet to port 1 fails on GridConnect NET485?
    • S
      Sydney BrewerAug 31, 2025
When assigning an IP address to the GridConnect Adapter using the ARP method and then attempting to Telnet to the device server through port 1, the connection will fail because the ARP method only creates a temporary password. Telnet back to Port 1, wait for it to fail, then Telnet to port 9999 again, ensuring you press Enter within 5 seconds.

Why no response when entering setup mode via serial port on GridConnect NET485 Adapter?
    • K
      Kristen AllenSep 4, 2025
Setup Mode via the serial port is NOT supported on the NET485 GridConnect Adapter. The unit is able to receive data but it cannot transmit, since the TXEN enable pin is not accessible to the boot firmware.

What to do if ARP entry addition failed on GridConnect NET485?
    • R
      richard78Sep 8, 2025
If the 'ARP entry addition failed: 5' message displays when issuing the ARP –S command in Windows for GridConnect Adapter, your user login likely lacks the necessary permissions. Have your IT department log you in with sufficient rights.
