Why does the safety valve pop open on my Groen Kettle?
    • P
      Phillip LopezAug 18, 2025
The safety valve on your Groen Kettle might be popping open due to several reasons: air in the jacket (refer to “Jacket Vacuum” in the Maintenance section), incorrect Temperature Controller dial setting, a defective Temperature Controller (the relay should click when the dial is rotated; replace if defective), or a defective safety valve (replace if it pops at pressures below 49 PSI).

What to do if Groen Kettle keeps heating after reaching temperature?
    • K
      Kimberly GarciaAug 20, 2025
If your Groen Kettle continues heating after reaching the desired temperature, check the Temperature Controller dial setting, the Temperature Controller calibration and offset, and the Temperature Controller operation. The Temperature Controller should click when the dial is rotated to settings above and below the kettle's temperature.

Why does my Groen Kettle stop heating before reaching the set temperature?
    • H
      Heidi GrantAug 23, 2025
If your Groen Kettle stops heating before reaching the desired temperature, the issue may be related to the Temperature Controller. Check the Temperature Controller dial setting, its calibration and offset, and its overall operation. The Temperature Controller should make a clicking sound when the dial is rotated to settings above and below the kettle's current temperature.

How to fix Groen Kettle burners that will not light?
    • K
      Kelly VegaAug 26, 2025
If the burners on your Groen Kettle won't light, ensure the main gas supply valve is open (handle in line with the gas pipe), there is gas supply to the building, and the kettle body is not tilted.

What to do if pilot light is on, but the main burner won't ignite and spark doesn't stay on in Groen Kettle?
    • J
      James BenjaminAug 28, 2025
If the pilot light is on but the main burner won't ignite and the spark doesn't stay on in your Groen Kettle, check for 24 V between terminals MV and PV/MV while the pilot is burning (replace the ignition control module if 24V is not present), ensure gas pressure is at least 3.5” W.C.(8.7818 ub), and verify the electrical connections of the main valve to the terminals, and check magnetic operator for main valve on gas valve. Repair or replace as necessary.

Why is my Groen Kettle system not producing a spark?
    • D
      Drew GomezAug 29, 2025
If your Groen Kettle system isn't producing a spark, check for AC voltage between terminals on the secondary side of the transformer (replace the transformer if it's not 24 Volt), ensure the high tension cable is firmly attached and in good condition (replace if cracked or brittle), inspect the pilot electric ceramic for cracks or breaks, and check/regap the pilot spark gap.

What to do if spark is present but pilot will not light on Groen Kettle?
    • R
      rebeccayoungSep 1, 2025
If a spark is present but the pilot won't light on your Groen Kettle, ensure the pilot valve is securely connected to terminals, check for 24 VAC at terminals PV and PV/MV (replace the ignition control module if 24V is not present), check for gas at the pilot (inspect the pilot gas line, clean the orifice if necessary, and check the magnetic operator for the pilot valve), verify the pilot spark gap is located in the pilot gas stream (adjust or replace the pilot burner if not), and shield the pilot burner from drafts if necessary.

Why is my Groen Kettle safety valve leaking steam during operation?
    • B
      Brian WelchSep 4, 2025
If the safety valve on your Groen Kettle is leaking a small amount of steam during operation, it may be due to contamination preventing the valve from seating properly. Try pulling the lever all the way briefly to blow the valve clean, then let the lever snap back to seat the valve. Also, inspect the safety valve for defects and replace it with an identical valve if necessary.

Groen Kettle: pilot lights, but main burner won't come on, spark stays on - what to check?
    • R
      Ronald DuncanSep 6, 2025
If the pilot light is on, but the main burner won't come on and the spark stays on in your Groen Kettle, check for a bad burner ground (repair with high temperature wire if necessary), inspect the pilot burner ceramic insulator for cracks, ensure the cable is not grounded out (correct the ground-out condition or replace the cable if it is), verify proper gas pressure, clean the pilot assembly (or replace if necessary), tighten all mechanical and electrical connections, increase the pilot orifice size if the pilot flame is weak, and replace the ignition control module.

Why does the main burner on my Groen Kettle come on but won't stay on?
    • D
      Danielle LewisSep 8, 2025
If the main burner on your Groen Kettle comes on but won't stay on, check the burner ground for a bad wire or connection (replace with high temperature wire if necessary) and check for low gas supply pressure (replace the ignition control module if necessary).
