Why is my Hayward Water Pump not priming?

If your Hayward Water Pump won't prime, several factors could be at play. Start by ensuring the pump and strainer housing are full of water, and the cover o-ring is clean, properly seated, and lubricated. Tighten any loose pipe or union connections on the suction side. Suction air leaks can also prevent priming. Inspect and tighten valve o-rings or packing glands, and clear any debris from the strainer or skimmer baskets. Check for blockages in the suction line and impeller. If the pump develops a vacuum, look for a blocked suction line or a dirty strainer basket. If the pump does not develop a vacuum and the pump has sufficient priming water, re-check the strainer housing cover and all threaded connections for suction leaks.
