If a magnetic pickup is fitted in the sound hole, where possible,
adjustment of the magnetic pole pieces (e.g. SAM-1) and overall
pickup heights and angles will enable the string balance to be
adjusted
20.3 POOR SOUND: WEAK, DULL or DISTORTED?
Ensure that any batteries on pickup systems and pedals are in good

POWERING OPTIONS) Alternatively use correct Headway
EDB/VAP PSU
Headway EDB/M PSU may or may not work correctly, as some
functions may not be sufficiently powered
Turn down Gain control, valve drive control, or excessively boosted
EQ controls or engage attenuation switch on some devices (e.g.
Pad control on some D.Is at -15dB)
Avoid Passive D.I boxes (transformers) especially on pickups, which
can change or degrade the sound of a pickup due to the way they
load it and can add rhythmical load and discharge noises
Check that a power amp output or headphone output is not plugged
into EDB-2 VAP inputs (or outputs)
Check leads for cross leakage, excessive capacitance or resistance
with an electrical meter or cable tester
