FOAM ELEMENT FILTER PLEATED AIR FILTER
1. Release the air filter cover (fig. 35A + 36A).
2.
Remove the air filter cover
(fig. 36B). Be careful to prevent dirt and debris from falling
into the air filter base.
3. Remove the air filter from the air filter base.
4.
Wash the foam element
(fig. 36C) in
liquid detergent and water. DO NOT USE
GASOLINE!
To loosen debris, gently tap the filter
(fig. 36E) on a hard surface. Never try to
brush the dirt off, brushing will force dirt
into the fibers. If the filter is excessively
dirty, replace with a new filter.
5. Air dry filter element.
6.
Place a few drops of motor oil on the foam
filter and squeeze tightly to evenly distribute
the oil remove and to any excess oil.
7. Install the filter back.
8. Close the cover
(fig. 36B) and secure it.
Note: I
Replace filter if frayed, torn, damaged or unable to be cleaned.
SPARK PLUG
For best results, replace the spark plug every 100 hours of use. Use only the recommended spark
plug which is the correct heat range for normal engine operating temperatures. To find actual
types of recommended spark plugs please contact an authorized service center.
CAUTION! A
If the engine has been running, the muffler and the spark plug will be very hot. Be
carefull not to touch this parts.
Note: I
Incorrect spark plugs can cause engine damage.
For good performance, the spark plug must be properly gapped and free of deposits.
1. Shut off the engine before performing any service on the machine. Wait till all moving parts
are completely stopped.
2. Disconnect the cap from the spark plug (fig. 37A), and remove any dirt from the spark plug
area.
3. Use the proper size spark plug wrench (fig. 37B) to remove the spark plug.
4. Inspect the spark plug. Replace it if damaged, badly fouled, if the sealing washer is in poor
condition, or if the electrode is worn.
5. Measure the electrode gap (fig. 38A) with a suitable gauge (fig. 38B). The correct gap is
listed in the Specifications. If adjustment is needed, correct the gap by carefully bending
the side electrode.
6. Install the spark plug carefully, by hand, to avoid cross-threading.
7. After the spark plug is seated, tighten with the proper size spark plug wrench to compress
the washer.
8. When installing a new spark plug, tighten by 1/2 turn after the spark plug seats to compress
the washer.
