Overview

This document describes the Hisense HS2100 2.1CH Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer, providing comprehensive instructions for its setup, operation, and maintenance. The soundbar is designed to enhance your audio experience, offering various connectivity options and sound modes.

Function Description

The Hisense HS2100 is a 2.1 channel soundbar system that includes a main soundbar unit and a wireless subwoofer. It is designed to deliver immersive audio for your entertainment setup, whether connected to a TV, external audio device, or streaming via Bluetooth. The 2.1 channel configuration means it has two main audio channels (left and right) and a dedicated subwoofer for low-frequency effects, providing a richer and more dynamic sound.

The soundbar supports several audio input methods, including HDMI ARC, Optical, AUX, and USB, making it versatile for connecting to various devices. It also features Bluetooth connectivity, allowing for wireless audio streaming from compatible devices. The wireless subwoofer simplifies setup by eliminating the need for an audio cable connection to the main unit, offering more flexibility in placement.

Key audio technologies integrated into the soundbar include Dolby Audio and DTS, ensuring high-quality sound reproduction and an enhanced listening experience for movies, music, and games. The soundbar is also Roku TV Ready, indicating seamless integration and control with Roku TV systems.

Usage Features

The HS2100 offers a range of features designed for ease of use and a customizable audio experience:

  • Connectivity:

    • HDMI ARC: Connects to your TV's HDMI ARC port, allowing for audio return from the TV to the soundbar and enabling control of the soundbar's volume with your TV remote (if HDMI-CEC is enabled).
    • OPTICAL: Provides a digital audio connection to your TV or other audio sources.
    • AUX: Offers an analog audio input for connecting devices via a 3.5mm-to-3.5mm or RCA-to-3.5mm audio cable.
    • USB: Allows for playback of audio files (WAV, WMA, MP3, FLAC) from a USB storage device.
    • Bluetooth: Enables wireless streaming of audio from Bluetooth-enabled devices such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops. The soundbar supports A2DP for audio streaming and AVRCP for remote control of playback.
  • Wireless Subwoofer Pairing: The subwoofer and soundbar are designed for automatic pairing when both are powered on. In case of pairing issues, a manual pairing process is available by pressing the PAIR button on the subwoofer and then turning on the soundbar. The Pair Indicator on the subwoofer helps monitor the connection status.

  • Basic Operation:

    • Power On/Off: The soundbar can be switched on or off using the power button on the unit or the remote control.
    • Auto-Standby / Auto-Wake: The soundbar features an auto-standby function, turning off after 15 minutes of inactivity. It also has an auto-wake function, automatically turning on when an audio input is detected (e.g., from a connected TV via Optical). These functions can be activated or deactivated.
    • Mode Selection: Users can select different input modes (AUX, OPTICAL, HDMI ARC, USB, Bluetooth) using the SOURCE button on the unit or remote control. LED indicators on the main unit clearly show the currently active mode.
    • Volume Control: Volume can be adjusted using the +/- buttons on the unit or remote. A mute function is also available.
    • Sound Customization:
      • Surround Sound: The SURR button on the remote allows users to turn surround sound on or off for a more immersive experience.
      • Equalizer (EQ) Effects: Preset EQ modes (Music, Movie, News, Game, Sport, Night) can be selected via the EQ button on the remote to optimize audio for different content types. LEDs blink to indicate the current EQ mode.
      • Bass/Treble Adjustment: Users can fine-tune the bass and treble levels using dedicated buttons on the remote control.
      • Brightness Adjustment: The DIMMER +/- buttons on the remote allow adjustment of the LED indicator brightness.
  • Hisense EzPlay Function: When connected to a Hisense TV via HDMI ARC, the soundbar integrates with the TV's menu system through Hisense EzPlay. This allows users to control soundbar settings directly from the TV's interface using the TV remote, simplifying the user experience.

  • Remote Control: A full-function remote control is included, providing convenient access to all soundbar features from a distance.

Maintenance Features

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of the Hisense HS2100, the manual provides several maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: The unit should be cleaned only with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Chemical solvents should be avoided as they may damage the finish.
  • Power Cord Handling: Always pull directly on the plug when removing the power cord from the wall outlet; never yank on the cord.
  • Battery Replacement: Instructions are provided for replacing the remote control batteries, emphasizing correct polarity and the use of the specified battery type (AAA). It also advises removing batteries if the remote control will not be used for a long period to prevent corrosion or leakage.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting section to help users resolve common issues such as no power, remote control not working, no sound, Bluetooth pairing problems, or the soundbar turning off unexpectedly. This section guides users through basic checks and solutions before seeking professional service.
  • Safety Instructions: Important safety instructions are detailed, covering aspects like proper ventilation, avoiding exposure to water or moisture, and ensuring correct power connections. These guidelines are crucial for safe operation and to prevent damage to the device.
  • Factory Reset: A factory reset option is available to restore the soundbar to its default settings, which can be useful for resolving persistent issues or preparing the device for a new setup.
