TROUBLESHOOTING
If any problem is found, troubleshoot to pinpoint the cause
and take appropriate action to prevent the problem from
occurring again. If the cause cannot be pinpointed, contact
your authorized dealer.
WARNING: Never attempt to adjust, disas-
semble, or repair hydraulic or electrical
components by yourself.
1. Engine
Trouble Cause Solution
Engine does not start. • Starter does not rotate
• Engine is too cold
• Incomplete air bleeding from the
fuel system
• No fuel in the fuel tank
• Fuel filter restriction
• If the battery power is low, re-
charge or replace the battery.
• If the starter has failed, repair or
replace.
• If the connections are loose or
corroded, clean and tighten.
• Preheat the engine or warm up
coolant. (Pour some hot water into
the cooling system.)
• Thoroughly bleed air.
• Refuel.
• Clean or replace the fuel filter.
Engine stalls. • No fuel in the fuel tank
• Air in the fuel system
• Refuel.
• Re-tighten connections and bleed.
Low engine oil pressure (Engine oil
pressure indicator comes on)
• Insufficient engine oil
• Oil leak at connections
• Oil pressure switch failure
• Add oil.
• Repair.
• Replace.
Engine knocks or runs irregularly. • Fuel filter restriction
• Air in the fuel system
• Air cleaner restriction
• Clean or replace the filter.
• Re-tighten connections and bleed.
• Clean or replace the element.
Engine overheats • Insufficient coolant and/or cool-
ant leak
• Loose fan belt or oil on fan belt
• Radiator fins are clogged or bent
• Thermostat failure
• Add coolant. Repair leak.
• Adjust or replace the fan belt.
• Clean and/or repair.
• Replace.
2. Electrical System
Trouble Cause Solution
Starter does not rotate. • Harness failure
• Low battery power
• Loose or corroded battery con-
nections
• Key switch failure
• Inspect and repair.
• Charge the battery.
• Clean and tighten.
• Replace.
Alternator indicator does not go off
after engine is started.
• Alternator failure
• Harness failure
• Replace
• Inspect and repair.
Monitor indicators do not come on
or gauges do not operate.
• Blown fuse
• Sensor failure
• Harness failure
• Burned indicator bulb(s)
• Replace
• Replace
• Inspect and repair.
• Replace
Travel mode does not shift from
fast mode to slow mode and/or
vice versa.
• Shift switch failure
• Harness failure
• Switch valve failure
• Replace
• Inspect and repair.
• Replace
