What to do if my Honda Outboard Motor engine doesn’t start?
- DdanielcamachoAug 12, 2025
If the Honda Outboard Motor engine doesn't start, make sure the shift lever is in the NEUTRAL position. Also, ensure the emergency stop switch clip is engaged and the fuel filler cap vent knob is open. Check that the fuel valve lever is in the correct position and, if using a portable fuel tank, squeeze the primer bulb to supply fuel. If the engine is flooded, clean and dry the spark plug. Ensure the plug cap is securely installed and that fuel reaches the carburetor by loosening the carburetor drain screw. Finally, make sure you have enough fuel.
