Cleaning the work surface
The Honeywell recommended microfiber cloths used for cleaning the
acrylic alarm light panel can also be used for cleaning the work
surface, as well as removing bacteria. For multi-user, multi-shift
consoles in a 24/7 control room, Honeywell recommends that the
work surface and operator equipment placed on the work surface be
wiped down between each shift to remove smudges, dirt, and bacteria.
Experion Orion Console High Pressure Laminate (HPL) work surfaces
can withstand sustained temperatures up to 105°C (225°F). However,
prolonged or extreme heat might cause discoloring. Although minor
cuts and scratches can be repaired, deep cuts and cracks will require
the service of a professional. Chemicals and acids should be not be
used for routine cleaning. If any of these items come in contact with
the work surface, wipe them up at once. Some of these items, when
left on the surface, may cause discoloring, which can be difficult to
remove.
Item Cleaning technique
Spills and
stains
Most everyday spills can be removed with the cleaning techniques listed.
Some stains, however, such as food dye, tea, and fruit drinks, may require
a bit more aggressive cleaning. These common stains can be removed
with a cloth dampened with a small amount of full-strength bleach
(bleach should only come in contact with the surface for 2 to 5 minutes)
followed by a wipe down with a water dampened cloth.
While your work surface will not burn, if a lighted cigarette were to come
in contact with it, it could leave a nicotine stain or a scorch mark which
cannot be removed.
Scratches The HPL work surface is highly durable and should not scratch easily.
Deep scratches are difficult to remove without the assistance of a
professional. Although highly durable, the work surface must never be
treated with products containing abrasive substances such as abrasive
sponges, steel wool or sand paper.
Severe
damage
Should your HPL work surface sustain a deep gouge, fracture, crack, or
any other severe damage, a professional fabricator may be able to repair
your work surface.
