Before removing the memory, follow these steps:
1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (see Preparation for disassembly on page 39).
2. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 39).
3. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (see Battery on page 41).
If you are replacing a memory module, remove the existing memory module:
1. Remove the memory module shield (1).
IMPORTANT: When replacing the memory module shield, be sure to insert the edges of the shield
into the clips (2) that are built into the system board.
The memory module shield is included in the Miscellaneous Kit, spare part number N96244-001.
To protect a memory module after removal, place it in an electrostatic-safe container.
