o Remove the server from the rack (on page 19).
4. Remove the access panel (on page 20).
5. Remove the air baffle (on page 21).
6. To determine which fan blanks need to be removed to install the additional fans, see "Fan population
guidelines."
7. Remove the fan blank.
8. Install the fan.
CAUTION: The fan does not have a fan guard. Special attention is needed when removing or
installing the fan to prevent finger injury.
9. Connect the fan cable to the system board.
CAUTION: To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless
all bays are populated with either a component or a blank.
