To remove the component:
1. Power down the server (on page 25).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Extend the server from the rack (on page 26).
4. Remove all drives ("Hot-plug drive" on page 28).
5. Disconnect all cables connected to the hard drive backplane from the system board.
6. Remove the hard drive cage assembly.
The server may look different than the one shown in the following illustration, depending on the
server model.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.
DVD-ROM or DVD-RW drive
All configurations of this server, except the 10 SFF drive configuration, support the installation of a
DVD-ROM drive or a DVD-RW drive.
To remove the component:
1. Power down the server (on page 25).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Extend the server from the rack (on page 26).
4. Remove the access panel ("Access panel" on page 27).
5. If installed, remove the FBWC capacitor pack ("FBWC capacitor pack" on page 41).
6. For SFF drives, do the following:
a. Disconnect the SATA DVD cable from the system board to fully remove the DVD drive from the
bay ("DVD-ROM and DVD-RW drive cabling" on page 65).
