4. Remove the battery (3) from the computer.
Reverse this procedure to install the battery.

Before removing the service cover, follow these steps:
1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 50).
Remove the service cover:
1. Slide the service cover release latch to the left (1), and then remove the optional Phillips
PM2.0×4.5 screw (if the screw is being used) (2).
NOTE: If you want to use the optional screw, it is stored inside the service cover.
2. Slide the release latch again (3) to release the service cover.
