HPE MSA 2042 features
The HPE MSA 2042 SAN Storage offers an entry-level storage platform with built-in hybrid flash for application acceleration and high-
performance. It is ideal for performance-hungry applications and includes 800 GB of SSD capacity.
The all-inclusive software suite includes built-in, real-time data tiering that dynamically moves constantly used data to flash and less used data to
lower-cost media tiers. This suite includes 512 snapshots out-of-the-box for instant recovery, and remote replication for affordable application
availability. The software delivers management tools that are ideal for IT generalists and server administrators.
The MSA 2042 supports the following features as standard:
GB of SSD capacity
Built-in, real-time tiering to dynamically move hot data to flash and cold data to lower-cost media
512 snapshots for instant recovery
Remote replication included for affordable application availability
400 GB and 800 GB LFF SSDs
All MSA 2042 models ship standard with the HPE Advanced Data Services (ADS) Software Suite LTU. Software titles included in the ADS
Software Suite are:
HPE MSA 2040 Performance Automated Tiering LTU
HPE MSA 512-Snapshot Software LTU
HPE MSA Remote Snap Software LTU
Note
The ADS Software Suite requires a license key from HPE that must be installed on the MSA 2042 to enable the services.

When using the P2000 G3 storage enclosure with MSA 2040 controllers, you cannot use SSD drives and do not have some of the performance benefits of the MSA 2040
system.

The MSA 2040 storage enclosure is recommended over the P2000 G3 MSA storage enclosure because the MSA 2040 storage enclosure hardware design allows for the full
performance of MSA 2040 controllers.

SSDs are supported on the MSA 1040 storage system beginning with GL220 firmware.
