7.4 Replacing a broken return spring

Remove the clip in the centre of the pulley. Remove
the spacer and the pulley. See gure 3a.

Remove the broken cassette and replace it with a
new one.

Replace the spacer and the clip in the centre of the
starter pulley. Load the return spring, see “Tension-
ing the return spring”. See also the “Dismantling
the starter” chapter.
7.5 Starter assembly

Position the starter against the crankcase and
tighten the screws at a tightening torque of
3-4Nm.
