WARNING
DO NOT make repairs or adjustments un-
less you have been properly trained and
specifically authorized to do so. Repairs and
adjustments that are not correct can create
dangerous operating conditions.
DO NOT operate a lift truck that needs repairs.
Report the need for repairs to your supervisor
immediately. If repair is necessary, disconnect
the battery and attach a DO NOT OPERATE tag
to the control handle.
CAUTION
Electrical
components on this truck are po-
larity sens
itive and may be damaged if wired
incorrectl
y. Make sure each electrical wire
connectio
n is tagged and properly identified
before rem
oval or installation. If the proper
location f
or connection is unclear, consult the
wiring dia
gram for the truck. Make sure test-
ing meters
have adequate voltage and current
capaciti
es to handle the output of the electri-
cal compo
nents they are used to check. Never
wire afte
rmarket components to this truck
without f
actory approval.
Certain w
elding repairs require factory ap-
proval. S
tructural members such as base
arms, axl
e weldments, and mast components
require
written Hyster
®
engineering approval
before r
epairing or replacing. Contact your
local de
aler for assistance.
This sec
tion contains a Maintenance Schedule and
the inst
ructions for maintenance and inspection.
The Main
tenance Schedule is divided into three time
interv
als which call for particular maintenance pro-
cedure
s to be performed. The intervals are 1 Day
or 8 hou
rs, 3 Months or 500 Hours, and 1 Year or
2000 Ho
urs for normal operations (whichever comes
first)
. Normal operation is considered one 8-hour
shift per day,
in a relatively clean environment, on
an improved su
rface. Operating a lift truck for more
than eight hou
rs per day is considered Heavy opera-
tion and requi
res the 3-month checks to be performed
at 350 hours. L
ift trucks operating in freezer envi-
ronments or d
irty conditions are considered Severe
operation an
d require the 3-month checks to be per-
formed at 20
0 hours.
Your lift tr
uck dealer has the facilities and trained
personnel t
o perform required maintenances. A com-
plete progr
am of inspection, lubrication, and mainte-
nance will h
elp your lift truck perform efficiently and
operate ove
r a longer period of time.
Some users h
ave service personnel and facilities to
perform the
tasks listed in the Maintenance Sched-
ule. Servi
ce Manuals are available from your lift
truck deal
er to help users who do their own mainte-
nance.
DO NOT make
repairs or adjustments unless you
have been
properly trained and specifically autho-
rized to d
oso.
Put the li
ft truck on a level surface. Lower the car-
riage and
forks, apply the parking brake, and turn
the key sw
itch to the OFF position. Open the access
panels an
d inspect for leaks and conditions that are
not norma
l. Clean any oil spills. Make sure that lint,
dust, pa
per, and other materials are removed from
the comp
artments.
