Ign. Trials Exceeded
Touch Screen Message:
Error ā Ignition Failure after 3 tries Boiler has
failed to ignite on 3 successive attempts. Boiler
in lockout for one hour, then repeats
3-try seq. Consult service technician if error
recurs.
No spark when igniting.
Ignitor probe/flame sensor disconnected, dirty,
or old.
Check that ignitor lead is secure at the control
module and at the probe.
Burner is dirty from construction dust.
Insufficient gas pressure to the boiler.
Manual gas shutoff is closed or gas line not fully
purged.
Check for gas flow. Open manual gas shutoff
and reset boiler.
Gap between ignitor probe rods is too large or too
small.
While the boiler is operating, wiggle the gas
valve connector on the SIM module. If the boiler
stops and starts, you have a poor connection
between the gas valve connector and the SIM
module.
Adjust ignitor probe rod gap between 1/8th and
3/16th (3.2-4.7mm).
Spark, but no ignition.
Check spark module is sending power to gas
valve ā close gas supply, then disconnect
(black) electric housing from face of gas valve,
gently spread plastic tabs to open, and look for
24VAC voltage during an ignition cycle.
With the gas valve cable connected, during an
ignition attempt, back probe the blue/brown
wires and look for 24VAC.
Replace module if no current is detected.
Boiler ignites, but shuts off at the end of the
ignition trial. Improperly grounded pressure
