Replacing the TF5 console
You might need to replace the TF5 console.
To replace the TF5 console, remove the console from the rails and then remove the rails from the rack.
Repeat the steps outlined in this article to install the new console into the rack, install the cable-
management arm, and route and connect cables.
Note: A RID (Replacement Identication) tag is included with the replacement console. You must write
the serial number of the console that you are removing on the RID Tag and secure a that tag to the
replacement console. Your IBM warranty is linked to this serial number. The new RID tag maintains the
original serial number record of the machine and allows IBM to entitle the machine for future
maintenance or warranty service.
• Verify that the machine serial number on the failing console matches the serial number reported to IBM
technical support.
• Transcribe the machine type, model, and serial number of the failing unit onto the Replacement ID tag.
Use a ballpoint pen to complete the RID tag. Felt-tip pens or pencils can damage the tag.
Stick the Replacement Identier tag on the rear of the TF5 console.
