defines a layered hardware protocol, and also a software layer to manage initialization and
the communication between devices. Each link can support multiple transport services for
reliability and multiple prioritized virtual communication channels.

GX++ 12X DDR adapter (FC 1808) plugs into the system backplane (GX++ slot). There are
two GX++ slots in each Power 750 and Power 760 system unit. By attaching a 12X to 4X
converter cable (FC 1828), an IB switch can be attached.
The PCIe Gen2 2-port 4X InfiniBand QDR adapter (FC 5285) provides high speed
connectivity with other servers or IB switches. Each port can achieve a maximum of 40 Gb
assuming no other system or switch bottlenecks are present.
2.7.12 Asynchronous and USB adapters
Asynchronous PCIe adapters provide connection of asynchronous EIA-232 or RS-422
devices. Table 2-20 lists the available asynchronous and USB adapters.

2.7.13 Cryptographic coprocessor
The cryptographic coprocessor cards provide both cryptographic coprocessor and
cryptographic accelerator functions in a single card.
The IBM PCIe Cryptographic Coprocessor adapter has the following features:
