Step 5: Activate the CPC
The activate task uses the assigned activation profile to start the system. Depending on the initial state of
the system, activation will perform only the necessary steps to get the CPC to an operational state. For
example, if the CPC is already powered on, activation will not go through the power on sequence again.
However, an activate will always perform an IPL if you selected in the profile to load during activation,
even if the system is already IPLed.

Note: The following steps do not require that you be logged on in System Programmer mode. The tasks
are also available from Operator and Advanced Operator mode. Refer to “Logging On” on
page 2-3.
1. Open the Task List from the Views area.
2. Open the Daily task list from the Task List Work Area.
3. Open Groups from the Views area.
4. Do one of the following:
Open the STARTUP group from the Groups Work Area.
Select the CPC you wish to activate and drag and drop it on the Activate task.
Select Yes on the resulting confirmation window.
OR
Select the STARTUP group and drag and drop it on the Activate task (since it only contains a
single CPC that you wish to activate).
Select Yes on the resulting confirmation window.
