Overview

This document describes the ICECO JP42 portable refrigerator/cooler, outlining its functions, usage, and maintenance.

The ICECO JP42 is a versatile appliance designed for both cooling and refrigeration, making it suitable for a variety of applications. It can function as either a cooler or a refrigerator, offering flexibility depending on your needs. A key feature for its use as a cooler is a warning that the water level should not exceed the compressor's position to prevent damage. The appliance is equipped with a removable hanging basket, which simplifies the process of stocking and retrieving food items. For added convenience, it incorporates a cup holder and a drain cap, enhancing its usability in different settings.

The JP42 is intended for use in household and similar environments. This includes staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, and other workplaces, as well as farmhouses and by clients in hotels, motels, and other residential-type environments. It is also suitable for bed and breakfast establishments, catering, and similar non-retail applications. Furthermore, its portability and design make it ideal for outdoor activities such as camping, hunting, and other similar campaigns.

Safety is a paramount concern with the ICECO JP42. Users are advised to read the operating manual carefully before starting the appliance and to keep it in a safe place for future reference. If the appliance is transferred to another person, the manual must accompany it. The manufacturer disclaims liability for damage resulting from improper usage or incorrect operation. Specific warnings highlight potential fatal or serious injury if instructions are not followed, while cautions point to risks of injury. Notices indicate potential material damage or impairment of product function if instructions are disregarded.

Several safety instructions are emphasized:

  • The water level must not exceed the compressor position when used as an ice chest.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • Explosive substances, such as aerosol cans with flammable propellants, must not be stored inside.
  • The appliance should not be used near direct heat sources like cookers or radiators, nor exposed to direct sunlight.
  • It must not be exposed to rain and should be placed on a dry, protected surface, away from edges.
  • The appliance should not be used if visibly damaged.
  • A damaged power cord must be replaced by the manufacturer or a qualified person.
  • Electrical appliances not recommended by ICECO should not be used inside the food storage compartments.
  • The power cable must be disconnected before any maintenance is performed.

Additional safety information includes:

  • The manufacturer is not responsible for damage caused by ignoring safety instructions.
  • Using accessories not recommended by ICECO can cause injuries and invalidate the warranty.
  • Ventilation openings must not be covered, and sufficient space should be left for ventilation.
  • The device must never be immersed in water.
  • A warning about battery issues notes that an old, undersized, or dead car battery can cause excessive voltage drop.

The control panel allows for temperature setting and mode adjustments. In standby mode, users can long-press specific buttons simultaneously for three seconds to select between Celsius and Fahrenheit. After powering on, the digital screen illuminates for two seconds before displaying normally. For key operation, a short press of the power button in standby mode activates the work mode, and another short press in operating condition returns it to standby. When in normal operation, short presses of the temperature adjustment buttons allow for fine-tuning the temperature within a range of 0°F (-18°C) to 50°F (+10°C). A long press of these buttons adjusts the temperature by 5.4°F (3°C) per second. The appliance also features an ECO/MAX function, which can be toggled by a short press of the setting button while the appliance is running, allowing users to switch between energy-saving (ECO) and maximum performance (MAX) modes.

To save energy, users are advised not to open the appliance frequently if unnecessary, to ensure adequate space for ventilation, and to defrost the appliance once a layer of ice forms. Warm food should be allowed to cool down before being placed in the freezer to maintain efficiency.

Connecting the ICECO JP42 to power sources is straightforward. For 12V or 24V DC power, the feeding cable should be connected to a direct current source, ensuring correct polarity. If connecting to an existing cigarette plug, users should verify that the power supply is sufficient. If the supplied power cable is not used, a table provides information on the required cable section (e.g., 2.5m, 16AWG for 12V or 24V). For 110-240V AC power, the coolers have an integrated multi-voltage power supply with a priority circuit. This circuit automatically switches to mains operation if connected to a 120/240V AC source, even if the 12/24V connection cable is still attached. It is recommended to use only one power supply to protect the freezer and cigarette socket.

Defrosting is a crucial maintenance task to ensure the appliance's longevity and efficiency. Users are warned not to use hard or sharp tools to remove ice or frost. The defrosting process involves disconnecting the power, removing goods from the freezer, leaving the lid open, and opening the scupper to drain the defrosted water.

For cleaning and maintenance, the appliance must be disconnected from the power supply before cleaning. It should not be cleaned under running water or in a dishwasher.

The appliance also features a battery protection mode. In standby, long-pressing the "on/off" and "setting" buttons simultaneously for three seconds allows access to the battery protection setting menu. Users can then use the "+" and "-" buttons to adjust the level: "--" for low mode, "==" for middle mode, and "≡≡" for high mode. This feature helps protect the battery from excessive discharge.

The manual also lists common faults indicated by error codes on the display. These include:

  • E1: Low battery protection mode activated (input voltage is lower than the set value).
  • E2: Fan error.
  • E3: Compressor motor start error (motor block or refrigeration system pressure difference is too large).
  • E4: Compressor motor speed is too low (refrigeration system is overloaded, motor cannot maintain minimum speed of 1850r/min).
  • E5: Temperature too high or too low to protect the compressor control module (environmental temperature too high/low, or system load too large, causing module/ECU internal temperature to exceed 100°C or drop below -10°C).
  • E6: NTC fault (NTC open circuit or short circuit).

The ICECO JP42 comes with a 5-year warranty on the compressor and a 1-year warranty on all other parts. This warranty covers repairs or replacements if the product fails when used according to the user guide. The warranty terms and conditions are detailed in the user guide. The product is also backed by a Quality Service Guarantee, ensuring that it meets acceptable quality standards and providing remedies for major failures under local consumer law. The warranty does not cover products not used in accordance with the user guide or those outside the specified terms and conditions. Customer support and technical inquiries can be directed to the ICECO website.
