Why are transmitted signals distorted on my Icom Transceiver?
    • G
      garciachristopherSep 12, 2025
Distorted transmitted signals from your Icom Transceiver may be due to the [MIC GAIN] being set too high; adjust it to a suitable position. Also, the [COMP] function may be activated; turn it OFF.

Why is the output power too low on my Icom IC-718 Transceiver?
    • T
      Tabitha PearsonSep 12, 2025
If the output power of your Icom Transceiver is too low, it could be due to several factors: the [RF POWER] may be set too low, so adjust it to a suitable position. Also, the [MIC GAIN] might be set too low, so adjust that as well. Ensure you have selected an antenna suitable for the operating frequency and that the antenna is properly tuned by pushing [TUNE] for 2 seconds to manually tune it.

What to do if Icom Transceiver has no sound from the speaker?
    • B
      bernard85Sep 9, 2025
If no sound is coming from the Icom Transceiver speaker, check the following: First, the volume level might be too low; rotate [AF] clockwise to increase it. Second, the squelch may be closed; rotate [RF/SQL] to the 10 o’clock position to open it. Finally, the transceiver might be in transmitting mode; check the SEND line of any external unit.

Why Icom IC-718 power does not come on?
    • B
      burkekathleenSep 8, 2025
The Icom Transceiver might not power on due to several reasons. The DC power cable may be improperly connected, so ensure it is correctly reconnected. Another cause could be a blown fuse; check for the reason it blew and replace it with a spare. It is also possible that the power supply is not turned ON.

Why does the displayed frequency not change properly on my Icom Transceiver?
    • O
      owalkerAug 23, 2025
If the displayed frequency on your Icom Transceiver is not changing properly, first, check if the dial lock function is activated and, if so, push [LOCK] to deactivate it. If a quick set mode screen is selected, push [SET] to exit the quick set mode. If the issue persists, reset the CPU.

Why programmed scan does not start on my Icom IC-718?
    • S
      Sarah CarterSep 6, 2025
If the programmed scan does not start on your Icom Transceiver, program different frequencies in scan edge memory channels P1 and P2.
  • H

What to do if programmed scan does not stop on my Icom IC-718?
    • K
      Kelsey FergusonSep 5, 2025
If the programmed scan on your Icom Transceiver does not stop, first, ensure that the squelch is set to the threshold point using the [RF/SQL] control. If [RF/SQL] is assigned to RF gain control, reset the [RF/SQL] control assignment and set it to the threshold point.

    knightbrianSep 4, 2025
Why is transmitting impossible on my Icom Transceiver?
    • A
      Anthony MorrisSep 4, 2025
If transmitting is impossible with your Icom Transceiver, ensure that the operating frequency is set to a ham band.
  • C
    Catherine WatsonSep 2, 2025
Why is no contact possible with another station on my Icom IC-718?
    • E
      ellistaraSep 3, 2025
If you cannot contact another station using your Icom Transceiver, first, check if the RIT function is activated and, if so, push [RIT] to turn it OFF. Also, verify if the split frequency function is activated and, if it is, push [SPLIT] to turn it OFF.

How to resolve distorted transmitted signals on my Icom IC-718 Transceiver?
    • D
      dhillSep 1, 2025
If the transmitted signals from your Icom Transceiver are distorted, first, check the [MIC GAIN] and set it to a suitable position. If the [COMP] function is activated, turn it off.
