Why does my Icom IC-M710 Transceiver signal not reach as far as usual?
    • H
      Hailey MartinezSep 12, 2025
Your signal may not be reaching as far as usual due to several reasons. The transmit power might be set too low; push [FUNC], then [TX] to reset the transmit power, noting that RF-PWR 3 is maximum power. Alternatively, if manual tuning is selected, the antenna tuner may be improperly matched to the operating frequency; push [TUNE] to tune using the antenna tuner, or select “automatic tuning” in the set mode. Finally, you might have CW or FSK mode selected for voice transmission; push [MODE] to select USB mode (or AM, R3E, etc.).

What to do if no sound comes from the Icom IC-M710 Transceiver speaker?
    • P
      parrishalyssaAug 21, 2025
If no sound is coming from the speaker, there could be several reasons. First, check if the [SPEAKER] switch is turned OFF and turn it ON. Ensure the microphone is connected to the [MICRO PHONE] connector. If the RF gain is set too deeply, push [FUNC], then [RX] to reset the RF gain (RF GAIN 9 applies audio). Finally, the squelch might be closed; adjust the squelch to the proper level or push [SQL] to turn it OFF to receive weak signals.

How to fix unclear or distorted transmit signal on my Icom IC-M710?
    • S
      Scott WilliamsAug 23, 2025
If your transmit signal is unclear or distorted, the wrong operation mode might be selected. Push [MODE] to select the proper operating mode. Also, ensure that the microphone is not too close to your mouth; speak into it naturally and avoid holding it too close.

What to do if the Icom Transceiver power does not come ON?
    • N
      Nicholas ValentineAug 26, 2025
If the power does not come ON when [POWER] is pushed, it could be due to a couple of reasons. Ensure the power cable is securely reconnected. Alternatively, a fuse might be blown; check for the cause, and then replace the fuse with a proper spare one.

Why is the received audio unclear or distorted on my Icom IC-M710 Transceiver?
    • M
      michaeltateAug 27, 2025
Unclear or distorted received audio can result from several factors. The wrong operating mode might be selected, so push [MODE] to select the proper operating mode. If AGC is deactivated while receiving a strong signal, push [AGC] to activate the AGC function. Also, if the noise blanker is turned ON when receiving a strong signal, push [NB] to turn it OFF. Finally, check the [CLARITY] control; adjust it to receive proper audio output if it's rotated too far clockwise or counterclockwise.

Why is the sensitivity too low on my Icom IC-M710 Transceiver?
    • J
      James QuinnAug 30, 2025
If the sensitivity is too low and only strong signals are audible, the antenna may not be properly matched to the operating frequency. Push [TUNE] to tune using the antenna tuner or select “automatic tuning” in the set mode when using an optional AT-130. Alternatively, the RF gain might be set too deeply; push [FUNC], then [RX] to reset the RF gain. Also, a wrong tuner condition might be selected in the set mode, so set the proper tuner for the connected tuner.

What to do if I cannot make contact with another station using Icom IC-M710 Transceiver?
    • K
      Kim FernandezSep 1, 2025
If no contact is possible with another station, the wrong transmit frequency might be set. Push [TX FREQ] to check and store the correct transmit frequency.

Why do all indicators appear and the channel number cannot be read on my Icom IC-M710?
    • K
      Kyle EricksonSep 3, 2025
If all indicators appear and the channel number cannot be read, the highest contrast might be selected in the set mode. Set to the proper display contrast.

What to do if the Icom Transceiver has no sound from the speaker?
    • H
      hsuttonSep 5, 2025
If there is no sound coming from the speaker of your Icom Transceiver, check the following: * Ensure the [SPEAKER] switch is turned OFF. * Verify the microphone is connected to the [MICRO· PHONE] connector. * Reset the RF gain by pushing [FUNC], then [RX]. (RF GAIN 9 applies audio.) * Make sure the squelch is OFF by pushing the [SQL] switch.

Why does my Icom Transceiver signal not reach as far as usual and transmit signal is unclear or distorted?
    • C
      Cory HicksSep 7, 2025
If your Icom Transceiver signal doesn't reach as far as usual and the transmit signal is unclear or distorted, consider these potential causes: * The transmit power might be set too low. Reset it by pushing [FUNC], then [TX] to reset the transmit power. (RF-PWR 3 is maximum power.) * The antenna tuner might be improperly matched to the operating frequency when manual tuning is selected. Push [TUNE] to tune the connected antenna tuner or select "automatic tuning" using set mode. * CW or FSK mode might be selected for voice transmission. Select J3E mode (or H3E, R3E etc.) by pushing [MODE]. * The microphone may be too close to your mouth. Speak into it naturally, without holding it too close.
